OSHKOSH - Multiple neighborhoods in Oshkosh are about to get upgrades. Tree plantings, bus shelters and a traffic safety study, among other things, will be paid for through the city's Great Neighborhoods Capital Improvement Program. Approved at Tuesday night's council meeting, the upgrades will be paid for with 2017 and 2018 funding from the program.
OSHKOSH - Hundreds of thousands of aviation enthusiasts will descend on Oshkosh next week, bringing with them millions of dollars into the area's economy. Based off past numbers, the annual Experimental Aircraft Association AirVenture will bring over $170 million into the city during its week-long run, split into almost every industry represented in Oshkosh.

A proposed agreement between the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services would provide care to mental health patients in jail awaiting transfer to a mental health facility.
OSHKOSH - Here's what you need to know ahead of the Oshkosh Common Council meeting, scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 215 Church Ave. Councilors will discuss General Contracting Service LLC’s plan to refurbish a fire-damaged building on West 17th Avenue. The plan would involve renovating the building into an eight-unit apartment building and building an additional four duplexes and a garage complex.
OSHKOSH - County officials are discussing a possible expansion at the Sunnyview Expo Center that would bring in more parking for larger events such as Lifest. The Winnebago County Board of Supervisors will consider a $175,000 proposal to buy a 20-acre lot that borders the east side of the Expo Center.
OSHKOSH - The city has begun the process of bringing its rental inspection program in line with new state statutes. Members of the Common Council and the Rental Housing Advisory Board met with city staff to discuss changes to the program before Tuesday’s council meeting. In the past legislative session, lawmakers passed a bill denying municipalities the ability to conduct an inspection program on a citywide level, instead requiring cities to define districts in which there is evidence of blight or slum conditions.

The site, which formerly housed the Morgan Door Co. and later Jeld-Wen, sits on the south side of the Fox River. OSHKOSH - The Little Oshkosh playground in Menominee Park could soon get an upgrade. The playground, built in 1997, has long been a fixture in the area around Menominee Park Zoo. The Parks Department is hoping to get approval for its replacement next year due to safety and structural concerns with the current facility.

OSHKOSH - A few weeks after researchers wrapped up an excavation that uncovered artifacts and human remains from an early Native American culture, Oshkosh Corp. broke ground this week on its new global headquarters. The facility, valued at over $30 million, will be located on the site of the former Lakeshore Municipal Golf Course.
OSHKOSH - Oshkosh now has the only publicly owned transload rail facility in the state, which city officials hope will bring more development to the Southwest Industrial Park. The new $2 million facility, off Clairville Road, allows officials to relocate loading operations for companies such as Oshkosh Corp. and will alleviate longtime noise complaints from residents along Allerton Drive.
